Newbrough received moderate injuries from an one vehicle accident
Deborah A. Newbrough, 56, of Dixon was involved in an automobile accident five miles north of Dixon on Hwy. 28 in Pulaski County Thursday, May 1st at approximately 1:45 p.m.

Dixon City Council discusses trash rate hike and city employee uniforms
The Dixon City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 5 to discuss the possible hike in trash rates and a new employee uniform contract. All members were present: Mayor Darrel French, Council members William Carter, John Sheppard, Steven Parker, Vi Tyson, Steve Martin and Lynn Whitten. City Clerk Karen Hardwick was there to present information and to take minutes.
After the approval on the consent agenda, the council discussed the bills to be paid. The approximate $4,900 electric bill was reviewed. The council was informed that the bill covered everything from the electric use of the City Hall, the dog pound, the water treatment plant, the City Park, the lift stations, the well at the high school, city shed and the railroad passing light.

Academic Team takes 2nd at District

| The Dixon High School Academic Team competed in the Class 3, District 5 Tournament on Saturday, April 12th and brought home second place. The Bulldogs lost the championship game by a single bonus question. Sara Glynn and CJ Sheek competed with fellow team members Will Johnston, captain Mike Jones and Gage Wilson who made the All-District Team. The Dixon team had a great season and look to make a strong run at the district title next year, as the team is graduating no seniors. DMS boys first, girls third at home meet
The Dixon Middle School 7th and 8th grade boys and girls track teams hosted their last meet of their season on the DMS track last Tuesday (April 29) with seven other schools participating. The Dixon boys claimed first place in team scoring while the DHS girls were third. The meet was actually a continuation from the Friday before when rain postponed events about halfway through the meet.
In boys scoring for Dixon, Calib Coborn was first in the 100m dash with a time of 12.65 while Jared Weider was also first, earning a gold medal in the 1600m run at 5:34.8. Weider was also first in the 800m dash with a time of 2:27.7 as DaQuan Gavin earned first in the 200m dash, completing it in 28.88.

Stoutland comes back to defeat Bulldogs 18-8
The Dixon Bulldogs let a 5-1 lead against the Stoutland Tigers at Stoutland Thursday get away from them as the Tigers came back to defeat the Bulldogs 18-8 in five innings.
Dixon (3-9) scored three runs in the top of the first as Tyler Palmer singled with one out and, after the second out was retired, Seath Kelley singled him home. After Kelley stole second and John Emmons walked, Richard Gilbert also walked to load the bases. Jacob Bertoni then came through with a big 2-out RBI single that plated Kelley and Emmons.

Bagby, Newberry set records at district track, several from Dixon advance to sectional meet
Senior Lisa Vengels earned three gold medals Saturday in Class 2, District #3 track competition at Blair Oaks and has advanced to the sectionals this Saturday at South Callaway High School. That’s nothing new. But she won’t be going to sectional competition alone.
One other girl from the Lady Bulldogs accompanying Vengels is Alma Bagby, a junior. On the boys side, those advancing include Dominique Knowles, Eric Shannahan, Cruz Allen and Travis Newberry.

Dixon’s Long is medallist at District Golf;
Jace Long has advanced once again to the Missouri Class 2 boys golf championships in Springfield.
After capturing medallist honors Thursday at the Class 2 District 5 Tournament at Redfield Golf Course in Eugene, the Dixon High senior will now play in the state championships Monday and Tuesday at Deer Lake Golf Course in Springfield. Long is the returning 2007 state champion and has already announced plans of attending the University of Missouri in Columbia next fall on a golf scholarship.

Lady Bulldogs soccer goes 2-1 last week
The Dixon Lady Bulldogs high school soccer team played three games last week with wins over Richland 3-1 and Marshfield 6-1 before losing to Fatima in a close game, 1-0.
Last Monday (April 28) the Richland Lady Bears came to town for the second time this season as the first contest was actually an away game that was rescheduled and played in Dixon. As this game started, both teams were playing hard with the edge going to Richland as most of the action was played in the Lady Bulldogs‚ end of the field. The Big Red themselves had opportunities that were sent away by the Richland defensive unit.

HENRY WOLF
Henry Eugene Wolf, of St. James, formerly of Dixon, was born on July 17, 1931, at Labadie, a son of Walter Thomas and Irene (Minzes) Wolf and departed this life at 8:52 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mr. Wolf had attained the age of 76 years, nine months and 12 days.
