Dixon summer school was a success this year
This year’s summer school for the Dixon R-I School District ended on June 24th. Average Daily Attendance (ADA) for the period was 93.33%. Enrolled at DES at the end of the session was 104, DMS, 28, and DHS, 37, for a total of 169.
According to Mike Smith, DMS Principal and Summer School Coordinator, it was a very successful summer session. It was very helpful to have the Middle and High School students both in the Middle School building instead of having students spread out among all three buildings.

Outdoor Theater comes to Dixon
There is a new way to spend your Saturday evenings this summer. The Reeders have started an Outdoor Theater on the grounds of the Bluegrass Park. The theater opened on June 5th and has been open each Saturday evening since.
When asked how this theater came about, I was told that the idea came from a Dixon resident who had lived in Tennessee for awhile in a town that had such a theater and that it was a hit. The Reeders discussed it and decided that they would like to try this idea.
