Six Things to Do at Lake of the Ozarks This Summer
Looking for a fun way to spend your summer while enjoying the splendor of Missouri’s great outdoors? Look no further than Lake of the Ozarks, a series of lakes and channels that spans over 93 miles across central Missouri. There is so much to do at this awesome destination, and we’ve got your guide to six of the best things to do at Lake of the Ozarks this summer.
Bridal Cave
Seek relief from the hot Missouri sun in the depths of the breathtaking Bridal Cave. Tours of the cave are offered daily to guide visitors through stunning stalactites to Mystery Lake at the heart of the cave. The cave even offers lantern tours, so visitors can experience the cave as its first explorers did in the 1800s while hearing some Native American folklore about the cave.
Golf
For a summer activity that’s both leisurely and exciting, hit the links at one of the pristine golf courses at Lake of the Ozarks. Several of these courses were designed by golf greats: Arnold Palmer designed the Osage National Golf Resort, and The Club at Porto Cima was designed by Jack Nicklaus.
Ozarks Amphitheater
Soak up the Missouri sun and enjoy the sounds of summer at the Ozarks Amphitheater. The outdoor theater offers both general admission and VIP seating options, so you can get up close and personal with your favorite artists. This season’s lineup includes performances by Old Dominion, Nelly, and Wiz Khalifa.
Big Surf Waterpark
If you’re not a fan of lake water but you still want a way to beat the heat, head over to Big Surf Waterpark. This park has a variety of slides and attractions for visitors of all ages and thrill levels. Lounge in the relaxing lazy river or race your friends down the Challenger Flumes, a pair of twisting body slides perfect for visitors of any age.
Boating
One of the best things to do at Lake of the Ozarks is to simply soak up the sun and relax in the beautiful outdoors. Where better to enjoy all the splendor of Missouri than from the deck of a boat? There are many boat rental companies along the shores of the lakes, but tourists are welcome to bring their own boats as well. Some companies, such as Leisure Lake Charters, offer tours and cruises of the lake so that guests can simply sit back and enjoy the ride.
Ha Ha Tonka State Park
Ha Ha Tonka State Park combines poignant moments in Missouri’s history with beautiful views in one gorgeous place. Visitors can trek across a natural bridge and through caves and gaze out from atop the sheer bluffs on the park’s many hiking trails. Visitors can also explore the ruins of a castle designed by the Snyder family in the early 20th century or embark on a birdwatching expedition to catch a glimpse of one of the park’s 160 bird species.
